Podcasting in the Classroom

How I am going to use Podcasting in my classroom is that when I am gone, I will podcast all my notes and assignments so that the substitute teacher will know what to do. How I will also use Podcasting in my classroom is that I will record my lectures everyday for when a student is absent or if they have to leave for a long period of time.

In my future math class, I plan on using Podcasting by making group assingment and the each student in the group will take a specific role. Another way that I can use Podcasting in my room is that I will create a project and the students will interview people on how they use math in the outside world. Lastly, I will create test reviews that the children can listen to.

Week 4 Assignment (Enhancing Direct Instruction)

1. As a future teacher it is important for me to model appropriate citations and seek permission to use copyrighted work is because I will have students that will look up to me. If my students see that I am just copying pictures from Google they will do the same and assume that is okay. When in reality that is not okay. The students and I need to know that there are rules that need to be followed. So I need to model appropriate citations so that my students will do the same. It is better for the students to be told at an early age how to use the proper citations so that later it doesn't become a habit of just copying and pasting a picture. (That is something that I need to stop doing). Why didn't my middle and high school teacher teach us this? However thanks to this 4th week, I have learned of new websites that allows us to "borrow" their pictures.

2. Elements that I was already aware of are to not have a lot of words on a PowerPoint slide. It is hard for the reader to listen and to read. Elements that I was not aware of was to only have one main topic per slide and to include seven bullet points.  Other elements that I was not aware of was to include quotes in the pictures rather than just adding a picture next to the text. How I can incorporate this into my own work and that of my students is to make my PowerPoint more interesting. Such as including more interesting pictures, videos, graphs, etc. It is important to do that because it will capture the students attention. This way the child will pay much more better attention. My past PowerPoints have not fitted with these design principles because some of my slides contain a lot of wording and have had more than one main idea. But for my future presentations that is all going to change.

3. I really had a fun time exploring Prezi but I feel like I still need to play around with it more.

1. The functions of this website did meet my expectations. Everything that this website provided looks very helpful. This website had sample problems, learning tips, online resources, extra help problems and games.
2. The purpose of this website is help students K-6 on their homework and for the students to play games.
3. How I would use this website in my teaching is that this is a link that I could provide in my school page or blog so that the parents could help out their children when stuck on a math problem. Students will also use this website if they want more practice.
4. What worked well in this website is that it's easy to navigate.
5.  I think that everything on this website worked well.
6. The intended audience for this website are children, parents and teachers.
7. This website is designed for K-6 grades.

2. The purpose of this website is to print off coloring pages and handwriting practice worksheets.
3.  How I would use this website for teaching is that it overs great handwriting worksheets that children can do and it offers good coloring pages so when children finish work fast they can color.
4. What worked well with this website is that it is easy to navigate.
5. What worked poorly is that the layout is to simple. It seemed to plain for me and not easily would it grab my attention.
6. The intended audience for this website are teachers and parents.
7. This website is intended for grades K-5.
